Meet the Star of My Next Book

Beach-Page4-Rev4-2Meet Stephy, the star of The Beach Built By Love. It is based on a true story. Stephy is my daughter. When she was younger she was diagnosed with an “incurable” disease. I prefer to think “incurable” means “something the medical profession and researchers have not  yet found a cure for.” The disease nearly killed her. She was in intensive care receiving transfusions ever other day, chemo, and some other pretty awful treatments, but they helped her to survive.

Stephy is quit a bit older now and is going through a very tough time unrelated to the disease, so I thought I’d write this book in her honor to hopefully help cheer her up. I checked with her first to be sure it was okay for me to tell “her” story. She agreed without hesitation, and I think she was honored that I would write a book about her.

The real Stephy was older than the girl in my story when it happened but the target age of the children who I hope enjoy this book is about ages three to seven or eight, so the girl in the book is about six years old.

The Beach Built by Love is not about her disease, but about what happens after she comes home from the hospital and has a great disappointment. A friend saves the day in a most amazing way. It’s about love, magic, and a very special girl.

With Love,

Russ
