Misty Zebracorn

Misty Zebracorn

My friend’s a zebra

With a great big horn.

I love her name,

It’s Misty Zebracorn.

We went to a beach.

She caused quite a scene

When she stayed in the sun

Without sunscreen.

A bad sunburn turned

Her white stripes red

From the tip of her tail

To the hair on her head.

When we went for a swim

All her stripes washed off.

Some folks laughed,

One started to scoff,

“Why you’re nothing but

A horse with a horn!”

I said, “Can’t you see

She’s a unicorn?”

For a moment

No one said a word.

I wasn’t even

Sure they’d heard.

But in a while

They began to smile.

“A unicorn!”

We heard some say.

“Today is our lucky day!”

They stayed with us

And splashed and played.

Pretty soon her

Stripes came back,

First black and red,

Then white and black.

When the others

Stopped to stare,

I said, “Surely you

Are all aware

That of every unicorn

Who’s ever born

None’s more special than

Misty Zebracorn!

They all agreed

And we soon were friends.

And this is how

My story ends.

I love rhymes and alliteration as they make written and musical creations more fun to experience. I may eventually develop Misty Zebracorn and some of my other stories and poetry into children’s songs.
